Denise Ward Brown

Denise Ward-Brown is an Associate Professor at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, Washington University in St. Louis. In 1998 Ward-Brown began making documentary videos in Ghana, West Africa as a Fulbright Senior Scholar. Most recently Denise was awarded a RAC grant from the St Louis Regional Arts Commission to finically assist in the development of her two current film projects.
The documentary Never Been A Time is about the 1917 East St Louis Race Riot and will premier at the one-hundred- year commemoration of the horrendous events where over 300 African Americans were killed. The other doc film project will be featured at the group exhibition “Higher Ground: Honoring Washington Park Cemetery Its People and Place” at the Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries in St Louis in March 2017.
